Pub quiz last night. We formed a team with Thomas, James and Natalie from Vindo and two guys who help run the youth hostel, one of whom James has decided to call Geoffrey, despite the fact that his real name is Kwok (how do you spell that?!). Our team is called Death’s Head Moth (yep) – team names must be ‘an insect you would take home to your mother’…First round is (not so) general knowledge.

Remember to bring some foodstuffs with you to Vindolanda!Pasta, tinned stuff, cheese, loaf of bread, packets (crisps, sweets, dried fruit), fruit, and so on. Things that will last the journey north, and which will get you through the first day or so (we get there on Saturday, so you will probably need something for dinner on Saturday, then lunch and dinner on Sunday, and maybe lunch on Monday too
